Good news for people in the Australasia region: Apple’s tour de force of countries receiving the iPhone games is increasing. This time, though, they may be diverting from the standard tactic of providing rights to use the iPhone games to only telephony carrier. This has to be excellent news for the consumer as even a duopoly provides competition. A monopoly such as that seen in the US, UK And Germany allows the carrier – in conjunction with Apple to whom a proportion of profits go – to set whatever price they deem suitable.
New deals in Singapore, India, Philippines and Australia mean that customers there will soon be getting the marvelous iPhone games. These deals are added to the others recently closed in Turkey, Italy, Canada and so many others.
Apple had reportedly sold 5.4 million iPhone games units, and with these new deals (and with the imminent arrival of the new model) this is likely to surge forward.

[...] The Apple iPhone games is perhaps one of the most exciting little gadgets conceived. While the concept of a mini computer is not new (the Treo and Blackberry, among others, blazed this particular trail) what it does off is the ultimate sexiness in gadgets. And Apple are soon to release the new model of its iPhone games, if rumors and market conditions are to be believed. A key catalyst to this rumor is the complete lack of iPhone games availability in the online shop, and a definite paucity in brick and mortar establishments that would usually carry the device. While this might seem like a huge error on Apple’s part it most definitely is not. For a start Apple don’t make this kind of error, and secondly it is easy to see the rationale behind the move: choke supply to increase demand before the new iPhone games release. When it comes people would be fighting in the streets (Apple would no doubt love that coverage). [...]

[...] The iPhone games is making its way inexorably towards world domination and Apple is rather expertly pulling it along. Recent talks in the Asia Pacific region will see the iPhone games move into further new markets and it is almost on a weekly basis that We hear more news to this effect. Perhaps most exciting to potential owners is the news that Apple may be dropping the exclusivity that many carriers have previously enjoyed. This will mean greater competition in new and already active marketplaces (by ‘greater’ I mean ’some’). Apple has sold just over 5.4 million iPhone games units as at the end of March 2008, an impressive figure by any standards, but especially when you consider that i) the iPhone games has not yet been rolled out in many regions and ii) it is getting a cut of the substantial bills generated by the carriers’ monopolies. Apple’s pay day is just about here. [...]

[...] Apple’s new model iPhone games is expected to be unveiled in June at Apple’s Worldwide Developers’ Conference in San Francisco. It is altogether smaller and sexier. One reason that everyone expects this announcement to be made soon is that there are very few iPhone games left in stock in brick and mortar shops; the online shop is completely out. This is Apple’s way of artificially increasing market demand on their product. When the new iPhone games is announced the floodgates will open the world, once again, will be a wonderful place. And it is likely to be a wonderful place for those countries where Apple has recently agreed deals with telephony carriers. Singapore, India, the Philippines and Australia have been the subject of the latest talks. Most interestingly Apple may be planning on waiving the plan which seems them sign exclusivity deals with just one carrier. This could be great news for iPhone games customers. [...]
